Your own private speedboat to the wild south east
Spend the day aboard a speedboat that is entirely yours, gliding across the largest lagoon in Mauritius towards wild islands set in turquoise water.
Swim at the foot of Ile aux Aigrettes, a nature reserve and home of the endangered pink pigeon, then snorkel in the Eau Bleue marine park. Cruise past Ile de la Passe and its ancient fortress, discover the story of the Naval Battle of Grand Port, and step ashore on the lighthouse island with its old abandoned lighthouse.
Along the coast, the Grand River South East waterfalls rise from the tropical greenery. Then comes the finale: a delicious beach BBQ on Ile aux Cerfs, with free time on its famous white sand and shallow lagoon.
Good to know
The pink pigeon comeback: in the 1990s only a handful of these birds were left. Thanks to a conservation programme on Ile aux Aigrettes and elsewhere, around 400 live in Mauritius today.
A fortress with a story: Ile de la Passe was at the heart of the Battle of Grand Port in August 1810, a French naval victory over the British. Its fortifications are considered among the finest examples of French island defences.
The lighthouse island: known as Ile aux Fouquets, or Ile Phare, it takes its name from the old lighthouse built by the British.
